After a few years contemplating whether to purchase a nicer camer or not I finally did it. I received my new Canon EOS R camera along with my the Canon 24-105 lens last week.
All my photos in the past have always been taken with cheap cameras or cell phone.
Lunar Eclipse November 2021
I went out for a photography outing to shoot the lunar eclipse November 18-19 in the mountains. The weather was nice but the clouds ruled the sky during most of the event. I was able to capture some photos of the eclipse between clouds which turned out a bit tricky.

Night Around Town
After an enjoyable time photographing the lunar eclipse a few days earlier I decided to go around town for more. I wanted to spend the evening playing with different settings.
I started the night up the hill overlooking the city looking for the right setting. There are plenty of plants and cactus in the desert so I captured a few early in the evening. I wanted to focus on the cactus and blur the city in the background.

Conclusion
First week with my new camera has been enjoyable and plenty of learning. Like they say, practice makes perfect. I see plenty of practice moving forward which will result in better quality photos. None of the photos shown in this article were edited, they are all straight from the camera.
