We made a spontaneous decision to go out to snap some photos last night. Red Rock Canyon State Park in Cantil, CA offers some amazing desert colors and perfect for photography. We were hoping for some clouds to add to the sunset, instead we had clear skies all around. Well, we can’t always get our way.
I used this photo shoot as an opportunity to take photos using the bracketing technique. This was the first time I’ve done photo bracketing. So far, I’m quite pleased with how the photos turned out. If you don’t know what bracketing is, I will provide a brief description. Bracketing is taking several photos of the same scene with different exposures. You capture an underexposed/dark image, standard image and an overexposed/bright image. I will create an article at a later time with more details on bracketing. This article is highlighting last night’s photo shoot. All photos were taken with my Canon EOS R.
Afternoon Photos

Car Lights Streak Through the Desert Highway
I really like how long exposure photos turn out with moving lights such as cars moving. I took a couple photos of the traffic traveling highway 14 through Red Rock Canyon.

Night Photography
As the sun set over the western sky it was time to adjust camera settings for dark long exposures. Bracketing was turned off and the shutter release remote was attached to the camera. We placed the flashers many different locations and took lots of photos before getting what we wanted.

Well, that is it from this photo shoot. I hope you enjoyed the photos. Be sure to rate this article and let us know what you think of this article in the comments below.
